Abstract
The cultivation of apples in Peru is daily gaining increased importance.
There are cultivars adapted to subtropical climates, yields however are low due to problems with dormacy.
The compensation of lack of chilling is indispensable.
This is the objective of the experiments carried out with hydrogen cyanamide (Dormex). Dormex at 2.5%, applied after pruning, is effective in breaking dormacy.
The plants are flowering very well.
Flowering is antecipated and the development of leaves is better.
Yields are much higher than normally, harvest is antecipated and fruit is presenting better colour.

There are results of various experiments carried out in different apple production regions.
In all experiments a control has been included of DNOC and/or urea at 13%.
