Abstract
A nozzle testing equipment was constructed at the Research Station of Caçador, Santa Catarina State, to evaluate the efficiency of airblast sprayers utilized for applying pesticides to apple orchards.
The equipment consisted of a set of graduated glass cylinders which received the total amount from each nozzle.
Differences in outlet up to 140% compared to standard were observed for the same airblast sprayer model among different equipments.
However the maximum difference in outlet among calibrated airblast sprayers was 4.6%. The quality of the gauge pressure in use by fruit growers was also tested with a manotester.
The test of 30 manometers showed that only 30% of these were working within an error of 10% of variation compared with the standard manometer of the manotester.
