Abstract
During the 1984/1985 cycle, a chemical thinning experiment on Golden Delicious cultivar was made in Vacaria, RS. Treatments were: Carbaryl, ANA, the mixture of both, ANAm, ANAm followed by a mixture of Carbaryl + ANA, 13 days after.
The results obtained indicate that:

  1. The mixtures of Carbaryl + ANA, full and half concentration, made strong thinning.

  2. ANA alone thinned moderately.

  3. Carbaryl gave inconsistent results.
In case of being used, it will promote mild thinning.

  4. A single application of ANA, was not effective.

  5. ANAm followed by Carbaryl + ANA gave inconsistent results.

  6. Fruit size increased in general, proportional to intensity of the thinning.

  7. Amount of blooming in the following year may be considered as a consequence of thinning, however not always being proportional to its intensity.

  8. ANAm reduced russeting.
