Abstract
The involvement of employees in managerial decisions should enhance their motivation but the scope for that will depend on each decision.
British firms seem to be shifting to a more democratic approach.
Various applications of participative management have been used in British horticulture. ‘Quality circles’ is the latest to be tried, notably by one large company which grows and packs for supermarkets, and it seems the most promising.
