SOFTWARE SYSTEM FOR MEDIUM AND OPERATIONAL PLANNING AND DECISION SUPPORTING FOR FRUIT FARMS

In the GDR we have more than 150 cooperative and state farms which run fruit production as special branches of the enterprises.
The area of orchards within a farm is between 50 and 2500 ha.
The share of the orchards in the whole land of one farm varies between 15 and 100 %. Under such conditions the success of fruit production depends in a high degree not only on the natural conditions of the site but also on a good management.
For this reason already more than 20 years electronical computers are used for data registration and bookkeeping performed by centralized organizations.
Now the introduction of personal computers gives the possibility to provide the several levels of management within the farm with fast and more detailed informations and in this way to reach a new quality in running the fruit farms.
The growers have fastly accepted these new tools for managing and so there exists a growing demand of software which comes up to the expectations.
