Abstract
Solarization of closed glasshouse and plastic house soils with simple and double layer polyethylene strongly reduced the presence of weeds and significantly decreased Rhizoctonia solani attacks on bean.
No significant differences were observed in the case of the two types of mulching plastic material.
The addition of Trichoderma sp. to solarized soil did not improve the effectiveness of solarization used alone.
Soil mulching with double layer polyethylene strongly reduced the percentage of carnation plants infected by Phytophthora nicotianae var. parasitica.
