Abstract
We have tested the potential of flooding as a method to control the stem nematode, Ditylenchus dipsaci (Kühn), in sandy soils.
Flooding of infested soil during ca. 10 weeks at a water temperature of ca. 17°C resulted in the elimination of the nematodes.
We conclude that flooding may well become an alternative to soil fumigants in the control of Ditylenchus dipsaci (Kühn) in sandy soils.
