Abstract
The concept of mechanistic crop modelling is described and simple numeric integration of dynamic models is explained.
Low resolution models describing the effect of temperature, daylength and light integral on growth and development are demonstrated.
These are of the product model type.
Special emphasis is given to flower development, growth of plant diameter and stem elongation.
The use of mechanistic models as control algorithms in a biological process control is discussed.
