Abstract
Tomato for processing in Argentina is an important social and economical activity for the provinces where this crop is cultivated such as Mendoza, Rio Negro and Santiago del Estero.
For different reasons, during the last two decades there was no production growth.
However, the situation seems to be changing in the last years.
Crop management systems are described characterizing culture and management, pests and diseases and types of growers.
National Research Institute (INTA) with finantial support from industries work in a project in which objectives are to duplicate yields from 20 to 40 T/ha, to develop new varieties and to improve fruit quality.
There are 17 researchers working in different subjects.
