Abstract
In 1981 our institute started field trials with three apple and one pear cultivar to study the suitability of organic mulch materials for weed control in orchards.
The aim of these experiments was to obtain experience with herbicide free soil management practices.
Results and conclusions with Golden Delicious, Boskoop and Gloster on M9 rootstock are published and discussed more detailed by Niggli, Weibel and Potter (1989). In this paper we are just summarizing some of them shortly.
