THE IMPORTANCE OF VIRUS-FREE PLANTMATERIAL IN INTEGRATED FRUIT PRODUCTION

In integrated pome fruit production planting of virus-free trees results in less threats to ecology.
Vigorousity of virus-free trees allow wider spacing, reduction of N fertilizing and therefore better fruit quality.
Furthermore application of plant protection chemicals and growth regulators can be reduced.
In replanted soil reduction of tree number/ha is possible with virus-free trees.
