Abstract
The reproductive performance of onion "seed to seed" crops was studied in the Mediterranean area at 37°N. The factors involved in a biennial experiments were two cultivars, two sowing dates and GA3 sprayings at three concentrations.
The results were compared with those achieved with traditional "bulb to seed" crops.

The "seed to seed" method gave seed yield levels as satisfactory as those obtained with the "bulb to seed" one.
Concerning the first method seed yield was more or less affected by the experimental factors studied.
In particular, the best results for both varieties were obtained by earlier sowing (July) and GA3 treatment with 400 ppm solution at 6–7th leaf stage.
