Abstract
The influence of the rootstock of Diospyros rhombifolia Hemsl. on the tree growth of ‘Fuyu’ Japanese persimmon was evaluated in comparison with the rootstock of Japanese persimmon (Diospyros kaki Thunb.) seedlings.
The trees were excavated and examined after eight years of planting during the winter season.
Total shoot length, wood length, tree height, fresh weights of the scion and root were significantly lower and scion/root ratio was higher in the tree on D. rhombifolia than in the tree on D. kaki. However, rootstock did not affect trunk diameter.
Annual yield and annual shoot and wood weight pruned were less in the tree on D. rhombifolia than in the tree on D. kaki.
