Abstract
Studies relative to the necessity of fertilization to the culture of guava in Rio de Janeiro State are not existing, having yet, few substantiated recommendations.
The present research is being conducted at Macaé experimental Station (PESAGRO-RIO) in the north of Rio de Janeiro, aiming to verify the influence of nitrogen and potassium on yield aspects of guava.
Trimestrially, along 20 months of cultivation, it was applied in covering zero, 150 and 300 g/plant of N, and zero, 135 and 270 g/plant of K2O. Fifteen days before harvesting start, it was counted in each plant the number of fruits and, during the harvest established the individual weight of 20 fruits per plant, selected aleatory, getting than the data of middle-weight of fruits and production per plant.
The analysis of the data permit to conclude that the nitrogenous fertilization promoted effect highly significant and linear to the number of fruits per plant and consequently, to the production.
Potash fertilization had no influence, as well as its interaction with nitrogen on neither of evaluated parameters.
