PRELIMINARY EVALUATION OF TWELVE HIGHBUSH BLUEBERRY CULTIVARS GROWING IN NORTH POLAND

Abstract
Twelve cultivars of highbush blueberry were tested in a blueberry trial in Karwia near Gdansk /North Poland/. The best cultivar that occurred was Bluecrop.
The yield obtained from the bushes of this cultivar was, in the third year of fruiting, as high as 4.70 kg of berries per bush/ 10 000 kg/ha/. Good results were obtained also with Berkeley, Goldtraube selektion 71, and Ivanhoe.
Satisfactory crops gave bushes of Blueray, Herbert, and Darrow.
Unsatisfactory results were obtained with Heerma I, Heerma II, Collins, Coville, and Goldtraube selektion 23.
