Abstract
In a highbush blueberry field at Osnabrück, a severe dieback disease occured, especially during 1974 and 1975, caused by the asexual state of Godronia cassandrae Peck (Fusicoccum putrefaciens Shear). Longitudinal fissures and a flaking of the bark of stems, which are more than 3 years old, are the typical symptoms followed by dieback.
The susceptibility differs between the various cultivars.
