INVESTIGATION ON POLLINATION METHODS FOR THE INTERGENERIC HYBRID BETWEEN HEMEROCALLIS AND LILIUM

For the development of Hemerocallis as a new cultivar with ornamental value, the intergeneric crossing with Lilium was conducted.
In this experiment, the capsule formation by the cut style pollination was 40-60% while that of stigmatic pollination was lower than 3%. After pollination, the enlarged capsule died after ten or twelve days in natural environment.
Therefore, in vitro culture should be performed within twelve days.
The capsule did not show any change in case of the ovule culture.
However, the callus formation and plantlet regeneration were observed in the treatment of the ovary slice culture.
In in vitro pollination, the process of cut style pollination showed higher capsule formation than that of the stigmatic pollination.
It was also found that the most effective materials for seed formation was the medium containing IBA 1.0 + 2,4-D 1.0 + zeatin 0.05 mg•L^-1 .
