QUALITY MONITORING OF POTATO TRANSPLANTS USING THERMAL AND VISUAL IMAGES

Abstract
Thermal and visual image processing system can provides nondestructive and intact information of transplants.
This study was conducted to evaluate nondestructively the quality of potato transplants.
Thermal and visual image processing were applied to measure the growth of potato (Solanum tuberosum L. var. Dejima) transplants grown at three photosynthetic photon flux (PPF) levels of 50, 150, 250 µmol•m-2•s-1 and four electric conductivity levels (EC) of 700, 1400, 2100, 2800 µS•cm-1. The leaf temperature of potato transplants measured by thermal image processing system was higher at PPF of 50 µmol•m-2•s-1 than 150 and 250 µmol•m-2•s-1. The growth difference of potato transplants as affected by EC was detected by the accumulated value calculated from RGB values of the leaves using visual image processing system.
