Abstract
The effect of four rootstocks, St.
George (Vitis rupestris), C-1613 (V. solonis × V. othello 1613), C-1616 (V. solonis × V. riparia) and Perlette (V. vinifera) on the nutrient contents of Perlette was studied.
Chip-budding was performed four times, first and last weeks of February and first and last weeks of September.
A non-grafted Perlette cutting was used as the control.
Graft unions failed to form at the September budding date.
The highest nitrogen and phosphorus contents were measured in the petioles of the scion budded on St.
George the first week of February.
Potassium content was found to be highest in the petioles of the cutting.
Sodium and chloride contents were found to be the lowest in the petioles of the scion grafted onto St.
George the first week of February.
However, the sodium content was highest in the Perlette grafted onto the Perlette rootstock the first week of February.
Sulfur was highest in the leaves of the cutting.
The vines grafted the last week of February accumulated more sulfur than those grafted the first week of February.
The results indicate that rootstock affected the nutrient concentrations in the leaves of the scion.
