Abstract
Inheritance of clubroot resistance in Brassica napus ‘Mendel’ has been studied using different segregating populations originating from breeding lines involved in the development of the cultivar or from the cultivar itself.
While an early breeding line still possessed three dominant and race-specific resistance genes the resistant parent of the hybrid cultivar ‘Mendel’ has received only one of these.
Using molecular markers this locus could be allocated to linkage group MS06. Markers linked to this locus cosegregated also with the locus A which had been determined in a previous backcross population and which could still be analysed.
Two additional recessive genes were detected in progenies from ‘Mendel’. The use of ‘Mendel’s’ resistance in respect to resistance management and its origin are discussed.
