Abstract
Technics for preventive control against nematodes using fumigants show some disadvantages : high cost, waiting before plantation, trouble in biological soil balance.
New nematicidal substances belonging to carbamates and organophosphorous families look very interesting and can be used, with some precautions carnation crops.
Times for applying have to take on account biological characteristics of the concerned nematode and risks of phytotoxicity for the crop (mainly with organophosphorous compounds). Such treatments can be profitable but some late applications have no economical interest.
Generally speaking amoung the different tested substances carbamates are more efficient than the others.
Most of them are specificially nematicidal and have no effect on severe fungal diseases that some classical fumigants contributed to control
