Abstract
The production of December planted spray carnations, c.v. ‘Exquisite’ was affected by plant density.
With plant density increasing from 24 plants per m2 the yields per m2 increased.
However, the flower yields per plant decreased.
And closen spacings had a detrimental effect on quality.
Under the Dutch conditions a higher density was unfavourable for the net profits per m2 due to an increasing expenses / returns ratio.
