Abstract
The presence of diseases caused by viruses in tomato culture in producing zones of municipalities of Fómeque, Fusagasugá and Villa de Leyva and bordering zones has increased the losses of farmers on 40%. Departing from this problem and taking into account that tomato is a basic product in the economy of these municipalities, the collections of seedlings and plants in field and greenhouses were realized on virus infected plants in order to identify the causal agents and establish the factors that favor their dissemination.
By means of the DAS ELISA test, the presence of Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) in these zones was identified.
Additionally, we observed by means of extraction of viral RNA (dsRNA) using the method of cellulose columns CF-11 three electrophoretic distribution compounds by bands of molecular weights (12 kb, 10 kb, 6 kb), (12 kb, 11 kb, 3.5 kb, 2 kb) and (4 kb, 3.2 kb, 1.5 kb) that suppose a viral mixed infection typical to the zone and need additional specific tests for the virus.
