DISEASE DIAGNOSTICS IN THE PRINCIPAL TOMATO (SOLANUM LYCOPERSICUM L.) PRODUCING ZONES IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF FÓMEQUE, FUSAGASUGÁ AND VILLA DE LEYVA (COLOMBIA)

During the recent years, in major producing areas of tomato in Fómeque, Fusagasugá and Villa de Leyva municipalities and surrounding areas, the presence of disease, which reduced production between 40 and 60%, has been detected.
Based on this problem and considering that tomato is a commodity in the agricultural economy of these municipalities, the collections of plants showing symptoms of disease during were done during the first semester of 2008 in order to identify different causing agents and establish the factors that favor their incidence.
It was found and confirmed by pathogenicity tests the presence of pathogens as follows: Botrytis cinerea, Oidium neolycopersici, Pseudomonas syringae, Xanthomonas campestris, Fusarium solani, Fusarium oxysporum, Alternaria alternata, Verticillium dahliae, Rhizoctonia solani, and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum with levels of impact depending on the area.
The results of this study, in addition to helping farmer recognition of symptoms of these diseases in the field, will provide strategies aimed at managing these phytosanitary problems.
