EFFECT OF PLANTING DATES AND ROWS SPACING ON YIELD OF DRYLAND AND IRRIGATED CUMIN (CUMINUM CYMINUM L.)

Abstract
In order to determine the effects of irrigation regimes, dryland conditions and rows spacing (50, 60 and 70 cm) on cumin yield, the experiments were conducted separately in two different dates (late in December and late in February) that rainfall was 203.8 and 176.3 mm during cumin growth period, respectively.
Height, number and weight of grains per plant, number of umbel per plant, 1000 seeds weight, biomass and cumin yield were measured.
There was no significant difference between irrigation regimes.
Cumin yield in irrigated conditions in Torbat-jam, Iran in December was 513.40 kg/ha and in dryland conditions was 480.34 kg/ha and in February was 351.76 kg/ha and 237.84 kg/ha, respectively.
These differences in Ghaen, Iran were higher.
There wasn’t significant difference in row spacing in all experiments.
As a whole, planting early in December with two irrigations as much as 200 mm in Ghaen because of high evaporative demand (379 mm) during cumin growth period and dryland conditions in Torbat-jam with 50 cm row spacing is recommended.
