Abstract
This project deals with climatic parameters and their effect on growth, fruit yield, and nutritional aspects of European blueberry (EB). In this concept, the forest is clear cut in small patches, typically 50 by 200 m.
Also, experiments on fertilization and cutting of EB plants in a half-cultivation management system is implemented.
Here are presented some preliminary data from two fields in mid-Norway, clear cut 15 years and two years ago respectively at Snåsa and Lierne.
The EB at Snåsa flowered one week earlier than at Lierne, probably because of the registered temperature differences.
Yield varied considerably between plots from 0 kg ha-1 at both sites to 550 and 78 kg ha-1 in Snåsa and Lierne respectively.
The reason for these variations is probably differences in drought exposure at Snåsa and destruction of the understory by heavy machines at Lierne.
Fertilization with NP-in the first year tended to increase yield at Snåsa but not at Lierne.
