Abstract
Strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa) is one of the most popular fruits cultivated and consumed worldwide.
Strawberries have a unique, highly desirable taste and flavour and are also one of the most popular edible spring and summer fruits in Turkey.
The economic importance of strawberry production is increasing in Erzurum, Eastern Anatolia, Turkey.
According to official records, 8.5 t of organic strawberries were produced in Erzurum in 2007. High yields of quality strawberries require vigorous growth and healthy plants, and diseases are the major factors limiting the production in Turkey.
The diseases of strawberry in Erzurum are gray mold (Botrytis cinerea), leaf spot (Mycosphaerella fragariae), and soil borne diseases (Rhizoctonia spp., Fusarium spp., Pythium spp., and Verticillium sp.).
