Abstract
It is an honour and a great pleasure for me to welcome you in Palermo to the 9th International Symposium of the working group on Plum and Prune Genetics, Breeding and Pomology held under the auspices of ISHS.
I am sure we will have an interesting meeting in the next coming days.
We are only a small group, but a very focused one.
My long experience leads me to believe that meetings comprised of small groups are always more effective than with larger ones.
You have a better chance to come into contact with each and every participant: I recommend that you make best use of this opportunity.
Communication and the discussion of problems are always most important at such meetings and can help to solve the problems.
