Abstract
An experiment was carried out to study the effects of precursor-microbial interactions on induction of flowering in pomegranate.
Precursor + microbial inoculum treatments recorded significantly superior results on various parameters observed.
Application of precursor + inoculum significantly increased the leaf ethylene levels over precursors used alone.
Application of methionine 2.5 ppm + inoculum and FeSO4 250 ppm + inoculum recorded significantly higher percentage of hermaph¬rodite flowers and intermediate flowers and reduced the male flower percentage.
The highest percentage of flowering in pomegranate was recorded on old wood by various treatments.
On new growth the highest percentage of flowering and hermaphrodite flowers was recorded with methionine 2.5 ppm + inoculum and FeSO4 250 ppm + inoculum.
The number of fruits per tree, average fruit weight and yield per tree were highest in plants treated with methionine 2.5 ppm + inoculum followed by FeSO4 250 ppm + inoculum.
