Abstract
In the years 2007-2011, evaluation of 15 modern cultivars of ground cover roses was made in the Polish Academy of Sciences Botanical Garden Centre for Biological Diversity Conservation in Powsin.
Every year the following characters were evaluated: frost damages; height of necessary shrub cutting in spring; dates of bud breaking in spring; height of shrubs and covering of soil surface area in vegetative season; dates of the initial and complete first flowering.
The shrubs overwintered well.
However, three winters were exceptionally severe, and two-year-old and older shoots were mostly frozen.
The most damaged shrubs were cut at the ground surface.
Most of the cultivars began intensive growth after cutting and, up to the moment of flowering, had covered the dedicated area.
In terms of features in question, cultivars were hardly diverse.
The flowering started in the III decade of June.
