Abstract
The Hooded-type homeotic barley mutants with lemma awns converted to flower-like structures, are very attractive themselves and may be used directly for ornamental purposes.
However, hybridization of the Hooded genotype with other homeotic barley mutant tw2 with lodicules converted to stamens and/or carpels, increased significantly the genotypic and phenotypic variation of barley plants and allowed to select stable ornamental barley forms in F7-F9. Rather stable hybrids in F4-F6 may be used for ornamental purposes.
