Abstract
Hemerocallis citrine, H. lilio-asphodelus, H. minor and their cultivars are generally known as Yellow Flowers in China.
Flowers of these species and cultivars are a common vegetable, so we hope to find some special ones.
All flowers of Yellow Flowers are yellow and sweet scented.
They open at 5 oclock pm and close in the morning. Hemerocallis Yellow Flowers as vegetables have over 2,000 years of horticultural history in China.
There are more than 40 cultivars of Yellow Flowers in China.
These edible flowers are fragrant ones and usually they form 40-60 flowers per plant.
Plants having different number of chromosomes, among the morning flowering hybrids include Hemerocallis Yellow Flowers, H. citrine, H. lilio-asphodelus, H. minor and their cultivars were selected as parents.
The purpose is to obtain fragrant hybrids blooming earlier than Yellow Flower. After two years of cultivation the obtained hybrids bloomed in the summer of 2011. Hybrids are fragrant and bloom in the morning.
From the hybrid offspring those with more flowers and fragrance were selected as cultivars.
The self-crossings of Yellow Flower hybrids and backcrossings are continuing.
