Abstract
Although the biocenotic complex from the plum orchards comprises a relative great number of pests, in order to decrease the number of chemical treatments, a viable method for controlling the plum moth Grapholitha funebrana Tr. is the use of the oophagous wasps.
The oophagous wasps Trichogramma spp. are among the most widely used biological control agents against lepidopteran pests.
Therefore, knowledge the flight distance of the Trichogrammas wasps play an important role in the biological control of the pests.
During 2008-2009 within a complex scheme for controlling the plum moth Grapholitha funebrana Tr., there has been used oophagous wasps Trichogramma dendrolimi Mats. as biological control agents.
The research has been carried out in a 2.5 ha plum orchard of ‘Stanley’ cultivar, at the Didactical Station Banu Maracine, Craiova.
According to our results, we considered that the platelets with Trichogrammas for biological control of the plum moth, to be located closer than 10 m between them.
In general, we recommend distances of 4 to 8 m.
To ensure success in controlling the plum moth using parasitoids wasp, should be considered the climatic conditions.
Platelets with Trichogramma can be installed both inside and towards the interior of the crown, East, South, and West, less North.
