Abstract
The hot-water treatment of Chrysanthemum cuttings is suggested to control white rust caused by Puccinia horiana P. Henn.. Experiments are carried out in the laboratory and in a greenhouse.
The fungus is killed by immersion for 5 min. in water at 45°C but it is not completely destroyed at 44°C. Vigour of treated cuttings is compared with a control on 74 cultivars.
The presence and importance of necrosis and chlorosis, after three weeks, depend on their physiological state, varieties, conditions of culture after treatment.
Several plants are grown until flowering to observe effect of hot-water treatment on the whole vegetation.
