Abstract
In two experiments, carried out in 1978–1980, effects of NPK levels in the stock plants nutrition on quantity and quality of cuttings were studied.
Not only basic fertilization but also top-dressing rates were differentiated.
In basic dress the amount of NPK was 150–50–200 mg/l of peat moss or double rate.
Every 2 weeks plants were dressed with 40 or 80 mg N/l of the substrate.
In the second experiment only top-dressing rates was different: 20 mg N or 20–2–11 mg NPK per 1 l of the substrate were used every week.
In both experiments cuttings were harvested over 3 month.

The number of cuttings per stock plant, fresh weight of cuttings and rooting percentage of several cultivars were compared.
The yield of cuttings depended not only on the fertilizing level but also on the cultivar.
The stock plants of most cultivars responded positively to higher dressing rates.
