Abstract
Nowadays, China is facing high speed of urbanization and some problems raised from it such as culture homogenization, climate change and air pollution, etc.
Cities with intense human population and impact are containing the most profound modification on the earth.
Ornamental plant diversity turns to be a necessary element not only for urban biodiversity conservation but also to emphasize unique urban features from different cultural backgrounds.
Encompassing enormous variation in geography, climate, topography, China becomes one of the richest countries in the world in terms of ornamental plant biodiversity.
Therefore, it is necessary to figure out a solution of utilizing wild ornamental plants to create cities with their own culture with lowering the risk of biological invasion through analyzing all the papers about wild ornamental plants surveys in recent ten years.
In this paper, we review the current situation and challenges of ornamental plant biodiversity conservation in China and discuss its potential utilization and effect in urban pattern.
