Abstract
The first ‘Kumato’ tomato cultivar in Romania was obtained at BRGV Buzău and is currently being approved and patented under the provisional name ‘Rapsodia’. Although most of the hybrids produced at BRGV Buzău were intraspecific, this cultivar was obtained through interspecific hybridization.
The plants exhibit indeterminate growth, can reach a height of 210 cm, and form more than 8-10 inflorescences.
The leaves are compound imparipinnate, formed of small leaflets.
The average leaf length is 35 cm.
Inflorescences are multipara, with more than 15 fruits per inflorescence.
The cultivar is distinguished by its tricolour: green fruit with light green and yellow stripes when immature, and red stripes with green and golden yellow when ripe, as well as by a specific aroma and a distinctive taste.
The fruit has a characteristic gloss, high firmness, and concentrated ripening, allowing both individual fruits and the entire inflorescence to be harvested.
The fruit has a diameter of 3.5 cm and an average height of 3.6 cm.
The cultivar can be grown both in protected areas and in the field in a palisade system.
It is intended for fresh consumption, salads, or various culinary preparations, with a balanced sugar-to-acidity ratio.
