Abstract
Total number of flowers and berries per raceme in 15 red currant cultivars were recorded in 1981 and 1982. The fruit drop of each cultivar and the effect of position within the raceme were calculated.

Jotun, Fortun and Nortun had the highest number of flowers per raceme, 18.3, 18.2, and 18.0 respectively.
The lowest number had Stjedraja with 12.3 and Jonkheer van Tetz with 12.8 flowers per raceme.

The number of berries per raceme varied from 12.5 in Jotun to 5.2 in Red Cross.
The mean fruit drop for all cultivars was 52 %, varying from 32 % in Jotun to 67 % in Maarses Prominent.

Fruit drop was lowest at the positions near the base of the raceme, and increased towards the distal end.
On the average fruit drop was lowest at position number three from the base end.
