Abstract
Statistical analysis was performed to detect combining ability effects for some characters of F1 progeny of V. corymbosum x V. uliginosum.
About 2000 hybrids were examined resulting from the use of six highbush blueberry cultivars: Berkeley, Bluecrop, Croatan, Heerma, Herbert, Rancocas as female parents and four V. uliginosum biotypes number 2, 4, 8, 9 as male parents.
The GCA effects components were significantly different in the inheritance of: leaf and corolla length, berry color and scar, pollen viability and diameter, flowering-to-ripening interval.
The SCA effects were significant for : leaf length, berry diameter and color, flowering-to-ripening interval.
In the inheritance of certain traits each parent has a different genetic potential expressed as GCA effects.
No parent was found combining simultaneously positive GCA effects of the examined traits.
