Abstract
Horizontal starch gel electrophoresis was applied to the study of isoenzymatic variability in pollen of 18 pear (Pyrus communis L.) cultivars.

The enzymatic systems analyzed were: AAT, AcP, ADH, CAT, GPI, LAP and PGM. Variability was found in all of them except in CAT.

This variability was relatively important and seemed enough to enable its application in cultivar identification, as the 18 cultivars studied could be distinguished with the exception of three pairs.
