THE GRAFTING PERFORMANCE OF PEAR
Doyenne du Comice registered the best growth on BA29 and the poorest on Adams and the two interstock graftings.
Its yield per tree was also better on BA29, where as on the other rootstocks it showed no significant differences.
William Bovey grew best with cts 214, while registering its poorest performance on Adams and on EMA, whether with or without the interstock.
The trend of its per-tree yield increased only with Adams and cts 212, even though the yield with this latter showed the lowest values.
Bartlett too had its best performance on BA29 and its poorest on EMA, Adams and cts 212. While the yield trends were all in the same general range, those on BA29, EMA and Adams, respectively the highest medium and lowest overall, showed final values on the increase.
The best yield performance results for the 3 cultivars taken together were found with BA29, cts 212 and Adams, the high, medium and low vigour rootstocks, respectively.
