Abstract
A pear variety trial was planted in the winter 1976–77. The trial was divided into two plots, one with seven varieties used for autumn consumption and the other with thirteen winter varieties.
The varieties ‘Agua de Aranjuez’ and ‘Roma’ were considered as "standard" for autumn and winter respectively.
Each year, records of vigour, time and intensity of blossom, picking time and crop weight have been taken.
Keeping capacity in cold storage has also been recorded for every variety with some subjective evaluation of its quality in addition to the soluble solids and flesh firmness of samples at picking time and periodically.
Since the trial is not considered as finished, the tendencies of production and biennialism of each variety as well as cumulated crop, productivity and average picking date are presented.
