Abstract
The highest yield of chicory was obtained in two years experiment with eight cultivars sown on 20 June and transplanted on 25 July.
The yield was reduced for 2.5 times when transplanted on 1 September.

The green leaved cultivar Pan di zucchero gave the highest yield while better head quality was obtained with the cultivar Scarpia.
Red leaved cultivars Otello and Augusto yielded more than Cesare, Giulio and Silla, the two last mentioned were more sensitive for rottening than other cultivars.
