Abstract
Water consumption as affected by different heating systems namely: a passive solar system, straw mulch, warm air and non heated greenhouse.
Plant yield was monitoreted throughout the experiment.
The results indicated that water consumption under heated greenhouses was generaly higher in comparison with the non heated houses.
Nevertheless, the soil water content was usually lower in heated houses as compared with non heated houses.
This was attributed to the enhanced evaporative demands of the larger vegetative masses under heated conditions.
The results are discussed in relation to the dominating factor in each treatment.
