Abstract
Fundamental and basic terms of radiation laws are explained and relevant relations are shown.
Different measuring principles and practical procedures for the determination of temperatures with radiation pyrometers are described.
Measuring accuracy is primarily determined by the emissivity of the target.
Emissivity values of several materials are given and the influence on accurate temperature measurements is studied.
Design parameters for radiation thermometers are discussed In conclusion a greenhouse application is mentioned.
