Abstract
Applications of hydrogen cyanamide (H2CN2) on deciduous fruit trees in Chile in areas with chilling hours (≤7.2°C) between 400 and 1200 are very common and studied for advanced bud breaking, uniformed and concentrated flowering and for synchronized blooming of variety and pollinizer.
Treatments of 2.5% H2CN2 on pears (e.g. ‘Winter Nelis’) 40–50 days and on japanese plums, 30–40 days before expected bud breaking, advanced flowering of the pollination varieties.
On cherry varieties ‘Bing’ and ‘Van’ (1 000 to 1 200 chilling hours) at 2% H2CN2 8 weeks before expected flowering, advanced collection 12 to 14 days.
1.5% of C2HN2 applied on four varieties of damask fruits concentrated harvest time and provided two collections compared with seven without application.
Peaches and nectarines have responded differently according to the applied dose, especially when chemical concentrations exceeded 0.5%.
