Abstract
A plastic greenhouse test was carried out in Duitama, Boyacá (Colombia) planting cape gooseberry, selected from the region, using three planting distances: (a) double rows at 1.2 m, 0.8 m between single lines and 0.8 m between plants with 12 500 plants/ha. (b) double rows at 1.5 m, 1 m between single lines and 1 m between plants with 8 000 plants/ha. (c) double rows at 1.5 m, 1.2 m between single lines and 1.2 m between plants with 6 170 plants/ha.
Plants were pruned leaving four main axes with (1) 300 fruits/plants, (2) 480 fruits/plant, (3) 676 fruits/plant and (4) without pruning.
Best results were obtained with treatment a/1: 22.4 t/ha; a/2: 19.9 t/ha; a/3: 16.0 t/ha; b/3: 14.9 t/ha and b/1: 11.5 t/ha.
It was found that the differences in production are determined more by planting densities than by the pruning systems (number of fruits per plant).
