Abstract
Deciduous fruits are grown under different conditions and no imports are needed, in: a) the coast: 10 18°C Sur, 50–500 m altitude, winters without sunshine for 3 – 4 month and temperatures 7°C. Important spercies include apples (local or U.S. origin or Red Delicious mutants) on quince, peaches (Florida or local), pears (Packham’s and local), plums (`Santa Rosa’) grapes, olives, figs, pecans and strawberry.
For dormancy breaking low chilling cultivars, suppression of irrigation in winter and/or application of DNOC + oil (0.5 + 1% or 0.12% + 3–4%) or hydrogene cyanamide + oil (2.5 + 3–4%) are used.

b) the upper part of coastal valleys: 8–18° Sur, 800–2 000 m altitude, plenty sunshine, day/night temperature 20–24°C/10–15°C in summer and 0–5° in winter.
Main species include apples, peaches and quince.
After harvest irrigation is stopped for 1–2 month, after that DNOC + oil are sprayed completing 1.5–2 cycles per year.
Economic yields are high since harvest occurs out of season.
c) the high Andes: 6–18° Sur, 2 000 – 3 000 m altitude with frost, few commercial orchards.
Peach, plum, pear and apple are grown.
