Abstract
Shoot tips and lateral buds from adult plants of Mulberry (cv.
Florio and Morettiana) were used to initiate the cultures at different times during the growing season.
After sterilization the explants were transferred to Murashige and Skoog salts and organic compounds (MS) medium supplemented with 6-benzyladenine (BA) and naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) to induce shoot proliferation.
For rooting, the MS media were supplemented with NAA or indolebutyric acid (IBA). A high proliferation rate of shoots was achieved at the 3rd subculture in both cultivars.
IBA was more effective than NAA as a root promoting factor.
