Abstract
3464 apple seedlings from 54 crosses between standard type and standard type, standard type and dwarfing type, and dwarfing type and dwarfing type were used for analysing the peroxidase isoenzyme.
The proportion of seedlings with or without enzyme band 9 in the bark tissues or leaves of shoots can be considered a genetic marker of compact type in apple.
It is probably controlled by two pairs of complementary genes.
